Saint Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland and the first bishop of the Irish Christian Church, therefore Saint Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday celebrated on the day of the death of this Irish saint on March 17th. Today, the celebrations have become open to people of all religions and nationalities, and on this day it is customary throughout the world to celebrate the cultural heritage of Ireland in general. Traditionally, on March 17, a parade with songs and dances in honor of St. Patrick is held, Irish beer pours like a river, and everything around is decorated with the traditional Ireland green color and images of the shamrock.
